About ECO2MIX
We started ECO2MIX because we watched sulfuric acid collapse the soil biology of farms we had designed irrigation systems for.
The Problem We Saw
For years, sulfuric acid was the standard tool for lowering irrigation water pH. It works. But after enough seasons, growers started removing the systems. Soil biology was collapsing. Organic matter was declining. Soil EC was rising. The acid was solving the pH problem while creating a slower, harder-to-diagnose one: sulfate accumulation that compounded season after season.
The problem was not the growers. It was the chemistry. Every gallon treated with sulfuric acid deposits permanent sulfate into the soil. There is no biological pathway that removes it. Over time, it suppresses the same microbial activity that makes a farm productive.
The Insight
Rainwater is carbonic acid. When CO₂ from the atmosphere dissolves in rain, it forms carbonic acid, which is why natural rainfall lands at pH 5.6 and why crops evolved to thrive with it. We asked a simple question: if we could dissolve CO₂ into irrigation water at the pump, we could deliver exactly what rainwater delivers, precise pH control, with nothing left behind. CO₂ converts to water vapor and carbon. No ions accumulate. No soil chemistry changes except the one you want.
What we built in 2018 was a delivery system precise enough to hold a pH setpoint within 0.1 units at commercial flow rates, with a feedback loop that adjusts automatically and requires nothing from the grower to operate. The chemistry was not new. The system was.
Who We Serve
Growers & Farm Managers
Commercial agriculture in California and Arizona — strawberries, almonds, pistachios, tree nuts, row crops, citrus, and vineyards — where well and district water runs at pH 7.5 to 8.5 and bicarbonates block nutrient uptake season after season.
Golf Course Superintendents
Golf courses in California, Florida, and the Southwest where irrigation water quality affects turf health, fertilizer uptake, and the ongoing cost of sulfuric acid handling. ECO2MIX eliminates the acid from the property entirely.
Greenhouse & Horticulture Operations
Greenhouse growers and nurseries where consistent water pH is critical for recirculating systems, nutrient delivery, and crop quality across multiple production cycles.
Our Mission
Replace mineral acid water pH control with carbonic acid, a technology that delivers the same result while feeding soil biology instead of suppressing it. Growers, superintendents, and horticulture operators should not have to choose between water pH control and soil health.
Why ECO2MIX
Turnkey Service
All equipment, installation, tanks, CO₂ supply, calibration, monitoring and maintenance — included in a fixed price per acre per year.
Proven Safety
Carbonic acid is the same compound found in rainwater and sparkling water. No hazardous storage, no corrosion risk, and no residual salts in the soil.
Organic Approved
Approved by CCOF and on the USDA National Organic Program's allowed substances list — suitable for both conventional and certified organic operations.
Remote Monitoring
Fully automated with real-time pH feedback. Our team monitors and controls your system remotely — no operator needed in the field.
